Notes
• Lactose-free Milk can be utilised, but non-dairy milk is not recommended due to lack of protein
• It is advised that you use frozen bananas, and do not replace this with room temperature bananas, as this recipe will not yield the same ‘milkshake’ type consistency
• It is advised that you freeze ripe to very ripe bananas that are spotting brown, including the type of banana that is overripe and too sweet to eat
• It is recommended that, if possible, a vanilla extract that does not contain glucose syrup or any sweetening agent is used for taste and quality
• Instead of wholemeal toast, this recipe can be transformed into a smoothie bowl by pouring the ‘milkshake’ into a bowl and adding 45g of low-sugar granola, as per the pictures below
• Please see the ‘Weird and Wonderful’ recipe page for a recommended low-sugar granola brand
• Depending on the exact quantity of the bananas used and the electric blender that is used, it may be that you require a little more semi-skimmed milk in order for it to blend, try to use 20-30ml more first. By using small increments helps to keep the milkshake consistency more creamy. If your blender has a ‘crush ice mode’, this can also be utilised.
